Hyperic Community Rewards Program

The Hyperic Community Rewards Programs were developed specifically to improve beta code, broaden technology support, expand the community, and of course reward our power users with some cool swag.

What is the Hyperic Community Forums Rewards Program?

To make Hyperic's discussion forums and the HyperFORGE the foundation of our community resources, Hyperic has devised a points system which rewards community participation. The program encourages all users to contribute questions, answers, plugins, patches and documentation, recognizing quality participation at a higher scale. Points are collected and statuses are established which recognizes individual contributors for their knowledge and participation. This program is intended to spark more participation and interaction by encouraging Hyperic power users to help others to become knowledgeable about Hyperic software.

How do I Earn Reward Points?

Reward points can be earned for several different types of community Sniper Programs. The system will automatically deposit reward points into your reward points pool based on your forum participation. There are several levels of award points available. There is no limit to the amount of points you can earn.

Forum Sniper Program

5 Points — Provide a "Helpful Answer" to a forum post. Owner of the question can award up to 2 community members this award per question.
10 Points — Answers the question. Owners of the question can award these points.

Bug Sniper Program

10 points &mdash Identify and add a bug to the [Bugs Forum]. If it is not a duplicate, and is verified as a real bug and entered into JIRA, a community manager will award you points
40 points &mdash Provide a code fix to correct an open bug. If the code is accepted and works, a community manager will award you points

HyperFORGE Sniper Program

15 points &mdash Fix a bug in an product plugin using XML
25 points &mdash Write an product plugin using XML
25 points &mdash Write a simple HOWTO
40 points &mdash Fix a bug in a product plugin written in Java
50 points &mdash Write a product plugin using Java APIs or develop a feature enhancement for HQ
50 points &mdash Write complex multi-page HOWTO or other documentation

How Can I Check My Reward Points?

To check your reward points total, go to any thread where you have made a post and click on your username.

How Do I Award Points to the Most Helpful or Correct Replies?

Users who post a question can award two levels of points for questions answered.

Helpful Answer (5 points) — On open, unanswered questions you may designate up to two replies as Helpful Answers. These replies will show up with a gold star and award the responder with 5 points. You may do this up to two (2) times per post.
Correct Answer (10 points) — Before marking a question "Answered", designate the most complete reply as a Correct Answer. This awards the responder with 10 points and denotes this reply with a green star.

What are the Different Status Levels in the Rewards Program?

Hyperic will recognize high impact contributing users within the forum community in a variety of ways. Each posting will proudly display their status icon, and at the upper levels, material awards will be sent in the mail.

New users to the forums will be automatically designated as "Newbie" and will display no status icon until they have earned at least 6 reward points. The following tiers of forum status are available beyond "Newbie":

6-50 Points - Rookie
51-250 Points - Pro
251-750 Points - Champion
751-2000 Points - Expert
2001+ Points - Guru

What Material Rewards Can I Get?

High octane forum users can get lots of goodies from Hyperic. At each significant milestone, rewards will be sent to the individual community members:

Champion (251 points) — an exclusive Hyperic T-Shirt.
Expert (751 points) — a high quality Hyperic Golf Shirt and travel mug.
Guru (2001 points) — a custom Hyperic Fleece.

These rewards will be handed out once quarterly. Stay tuned to the forums for more details!

Do Hyperic Employees Participate in the Forums?

All Hyperic employees are encouraged to participate in forum discussions and live by the same community rules as all other forum members. We have a lot to share!

However, we should remind you that all participation is voluntary, even from employees. Please respect the Hyperic Community Code of Conduct, and remember community support cannot be considered a substitute for Hyperic's world-class support available via the enterprise subscription.
